BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA, LACTATION COUNSELOR

My name is Sheyda (she/her) and I am honored to provide birth and postpartum doula support + lactation counseling to families in Brooklyn, Queens, and some areas of Manhattan.

Birth Support (see pricing info below)

I was inspired to pursue birth work after my own pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience with my son in 2022. I was in awe of every mother and parent who had come through this experience before me, birthing and raising their babies. Becoming a parent has demanded of me strength, courage, tenderness and self-compassion and as a mom to a now toddler, what I learn about myself and the love and privilege that comes with raising a small human continues to amaze me. I love to connect with others as they go through this transition as well.

Postpartum Support (see packages/pricing below)
The early weeks with a new baby are tender, transformative, and often overwhelming. I help parents recover, rest, and find their new rhythm. Whether it’s newborn care, emotional support, or making sure you have nourishing food to eat and a moment to breathe, my goal is to create a safe, nurturing space so you can enjoy bonding with your baby and find your confidence. I love to work with folks prenatally for education and preparation for this period too, and offer a private course that goes over what to expect in the first few days and weeks physically, emotionally and relationally, educates on baby needs and behaviors, and sets you up to meet your infant feeding goals.

Lactation & Infant Feeding (see pricing info below)

As a lactation counselor, I support chestfeeding, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and pumping with compassion and without judgment. Feeding a baby is a lot of work, especially at the beginning! I offer an understanding ear as well as information and guidance so you can make the best decisions to meet your goals. My priority is that you feel respected, cared for, and confident as you nourish your baby in ways that work best for your family.

Testimonials

“Sheyda’s support for our family in the postpartum period was extremely valuable. We felt taken care of both physically and emotionally — she took care of so much from cooking, organizing and baby wearing to feeding and planning ahead. My son loved her, she helped him sleep well and she contributed immensely to our preparation for the next phase of parenthood. We feel so grateful to have met and connected with Sheyda. Any family would be lucky to have her support and guidance.”

-Lou

“To have Sheyda’s expertise in the postpartum weeks has been monumental. She offered breastfeeding tips (that worked!), went grocery shopping, gave me massages, and also visited me in the hospital as I suffered from preeclampsia. She has been such a comfort and I am so happy I got to work with her!”

- Jillian, Carroll Gardens

“Sheyda provided great insight, love, and support for our family as we welcomed our daughter into the world. I would hire her in a heartbeat again.”

-Emma, Brooklyn Heights

“Sheyda was sweet and attentive when looking after our newborn. She has a very calming presence and helped provide support when we needed it most the first few weeks post delivery. I have full confidence in Sheyda and would be happy to recommend her to any family.”

-Gina, Bushwick
