Allison
BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA, LACTATION COUNSELOR
Allison Cafarelli is a birth and postpartum doula born and raised in Queens, New York, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. She offers grounded, nurturing care for families seeking both practical support and steady emotional presence during one of life’s most sacred transitions.
Allison’s work is rooted in the belief that birth and postpartum are not only physical experiences, but deeply transformational moments that deserve to be met with patience, respect, and compassionate care. As a birth and postpartum doula, she supports families through pregnancy, labor, and the early postpartum period with a focus on nervous system regulation, informed decision-making, and gentle advocacy.
Allison completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification in Rishikesh, India in the summer of 2025 and has been practicing yoga for over nine years. This training deepened her understanding of breath, embodiment, and nervous system regulation, and continues to inform her work as a birth and postpartum doula. She integrates these practices into her care through grounding presence, mindful support, and an attuned awareness of how the body holds and releases during times of transition.
Allison offers both daytime and overnight postpartum care, recognizing that support is essential not only in the quiet hours of the night, but throughout the rhythms of daily life. Her care allows families to rest, recover, and settle into parenthood while feeling reassured and supported. She provides newborn care, infant feeding and lactation guidance, emotional reassurance, and practical education—creating a calm, grounding environment where parents can build confidence and trust in themselves.
Whether supporting a family during birth or in the weeks that follow, Allison centers empowerment and presence. She works to ensure families feel informed, heard, and supported in their choices, while honoring each family’s unique needs, values, and lived experience. Her approach blends evidence-based care with intuitive, heart-centered support, offering steadiness during moments that can feel overwhelming or uncertain.
Above all, Allison’s intention is to help families feel held—physically, emotionally, and energetically—so healing, rest, and bonding can unfold with greater ease and trust.
Allison’s journey into birth work began with becoming a mother. She has two sons, born three years apart, and each birth profoundly shaped how she understands pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care. Her first birth in 2012 introduced her to the power of birth, while also raising many questions. In the years between her two births, Allison intentionally pursued birth education, informed decision-making, and maternal support. When she welcomed her second son, the experience was deeply different—demonstrating how knowledge, advocacy, and compassionate care can transform not only the birth experience, but the way a mother carries it forward into postpartum and beyond.
In 2023, Allison had the honor of supporting her sister through the birth of her niece, Stella—named after their mother. That experience felt deeply meaningful and full-circle, and from it, Healing Stella was born—rooted in lineage, healing, and the sacred transition into motherhood.
Allison completed two years of mentorship with Manhattan Birth and is a member of the East River Doula Collective. She is also trained as an Integrative Lactation Feeding Specialist through Manhattan Birth. Her approach blends evidence-based postpartum care with intuitive, heart-centered support. Above all, Allison’s intention is to help families feel held—physically, emotionally, and energetically—so healing, rest, and bonding can unfold with greater ease and trust.
Testimonials
“Allison quite literally saved our lives. With a baby struggling with sleep and reflux issues (okay, it was we who were struggling with the reflux and sleep; baby was having a great time), Allison immediately earned our trust as someone we would welcome into our home to manage an overnight with our baby, which was a big jump for first-time New York parents.
Not just trustworthy and reliable, Allison was attentive and compassionate and made friends with our baby in no time during a very grumpy era.
We could not recommend Allison more highly."
