If you're a new(ish) and trained doula, our mentorship program might be a great fit for you.

  • Receive mentoring in community with our experienced East River Doulas

  • Virtual group learning (Q&A topic-based panels, ~2x/month, recorded and saved to mentorship library)

  • A lively, dedicated WhatsApp chat with access to a number of experienced birth & postpartum doula mentors as well as your mentee peers

  • Continuing ed/networking opportunities with local perinatal professionals to build your resource list

  • Access to library of ERDC mentorship Q&A topic-based panel recordings & continuing ed workshops as well as other useful resources to support and grow your work

  • Referrals - East River Doula Collective receives lots of inquiries for birth and postpartum support, and we are happy to recommend our mentees and offer them support along the way whenever we can't accommodate a request from within our membership


  • Doula training needs to be completed before applying for our mentorship (certification not required)

  • Candidates need to be on board with our values (you will be asked to both explicitly verbally confirm in an interview and sign a mentorship agreement to this effect)

  • Ideal candidate:

    • Desires to be actively engaged and learning in community with other doulas (both in Zooms and Whatsapp as well as the occasional in-person meetup)

    • Will be available to attend our Zoom Q&As on most or all scheduled times (for fall 2023 cohort, will be roughly every other Wednesday @ 10am EST (and a couple of Tuesdays); optional mentor office hours will be roughly every other Tuesday @ 10am (in the off weeks from Q&As, so a couple of Wednesdays)

  • Contact us for pricing details and draft calendar; there will be a lump sum option and a monthly-pay option.


  • $159/month for 6 months ($954) ~or~ $899 flat fee

  • BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ discounted rate: $139/month for 6 months ($834) ~or~ $799 flat fee

  • Complete application (deadline for fall program was Sept 8, 2023 but we can consider late applicants)

  • Subscribe to our emails so you'll get updates (this link is for birth workers; if you're an expectant or new parent and want to be on our email list, subscribe here)

  • In mid-September, we'll be in touch with selected applicants to conduct interviews

  • Last week of September: Invitations extended to join, payments & agreements due

  • October: onboarding & program begins

  • early May: wrapping up the program

Are you a birth or postpartum doula interested in becoming a member: we're not currently open for new members. However, we invite you to submit an application. While those who've gone through our mentorship program will be prioritized due to the established relationship & trust, we'll be happy to consider anyone who has submitted an application whenever we are able to consider inviting new members.
